Answer:
Drawings submitted to the Office must be made on paper which is flexible, strong, white, smooth, non-shiny, and durable. All sheets must be reasonably free from cracks, creases, and folds. Only one side of the sheet may be used for the drawing.

Question:What is the Federal mandate that requires an extramural invention tracking system?

Answer:
New provisions to the Code of Federal Regulations came with the enactment of the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980. These provisions (CFR) stipulated the need for all grantees or contractors to report on activities involving the disposition of certain intellectual property rights that result from Federally funded research (37CFR Part 401).

Definition:
Image File Wrapper - an electronic version of a patent application, including image and/or text versions of the bibliographic information, all papers as filed, and all office actions and correspondence related to that application.

Serial Number

Definition:
A number assigned to a patent application when it is filed. A serial number is usually used together with a two digit series code to distinguish between applications filed at different times.
